Empowerment
Projects |
|
|
|
IICO has successfully
accomplished over 5,000
projects all over the world. IICO's projects
have been
making a difference in the lives of thousands of people around the world. |
|
|
|
|
|
Since
its foundation, IICO realized, before many other international organizations, the significance of empowering the poor societies
as the ideal solution for the problem of poverty and under
development. IICO does
not simply distribute cash assistance to the needy but rather invests, the
undesignated contributions it receives, in long term sustainable productive projects that
insure reasonable income to the poor
as well as employment opportunities.
Guided by the above
policy as well as the Islamic teachings which prompt people to be hard workers,
productive, self-sufficient, and not to rely on others, IICO
has been involved in many developmental, productive, training, social, educational and cultural projects in many countries. |

Productive
Projects
|
|

IICO's
productive projects are meant to meet the basic needs of the poor communities. For
example, drilling wells insures water supply for drinking and irrigation; modern farming and agricultural projects for growing
grains and vegetables, animal rearing, fisheries, poultry's farms, and beehives insure constant food supply.
These projects also insure a reasonable income to the poor
as well as employment opportunities.
A percentage of the income generated from the productive
project is used to cover the costs of running, maintenance, future
expansion of the project as well as improving the services offered to the
needy.
IICO
implemented many productive projects in many countries around the world such
as: farms, cattle rearing, artificial fisheries, poultries, work shop for
building fishing boats in Uganda, Sudan, Bangladesh, and Senegal.

Building Mosques and
community
centers
|
|
|
|
One of the best deeds in Islam to
please God is to build a mosque if it is very small. Prophet
Mohammad (pbuh) said, "Whosoever builds a mosque (a place of worship) for God even if
it is as small as the breeding place of the sand grouse, God will build for him
a house in Paradise."
IICO
has built hundreds of mosques all over the world in all continents to help Moslems
practice their religion and preserve their Islamic identity.
Some of
these mosques are part of an integrate project or a community centers designed to provide social and
cultural functions in addition to religious activities.
These mosques
and centers help preserve the culture and
identity of the needy Moslems through providing a place for them to practice their social and
religious functions, celebrate their cultural events, held meetings and conferences.
