Abdullah Al-A'qeel Visited IICO
 

Al-A'qeel : Extremism and Terrorism

Shaikh Abdullah Al-A'qeel, the former chairman of Saudi Foundation of High Judicial Council, visited IICO. Shaikh Al-A'qeel was invited by Ministry of al-Awqaf and Islamic affairs and gave many lectures. He was accompanied by his son, Shaikh Abdul-Rahman Al-A'qeel, and Tareq Al-Isa, the chairman of Society of Heritage Revival. He was warmly welcomed by Mr. Al-Haji, the chairman of IICO and all IICO staff.

Al-Haji shed light on the development of IICO and its charitable efforts and projects in many needy Islamic countries around the world. He also spoke about activities of IICO committees particularly the Kuwaiti Joint Committee for Relief Aids and its role in providing relief aids for Muslims stricken by calamities and disasters and living in catastrophic situations. Al-Haji stressed that the Kuwaiti government is firmly supporting IICO in many ways.

In his turn, Shaikh Abdullah Al-A'qeel called upon the Muslim scholars and seeker of Islamic knowledge to hold fast to moderation and discard extremism and terrorism and work together for the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

Amr Mosa: We are hoping for Cooperation with IICO

Amr Mosa, the Chairman of Arab League sent a cable to Mr. Al-Haji, the chairman of IICO in reply to IICO letter to the Arab League.
We have received your letter as well as the annual report of International Islamic Charitable Organization which includes all of IICO various activities and projects for the year 1424 AH. We appreciate the charitable efforts of IICO and its contribution in the development of in many of Arab and Islamic countries.

Indeed IICO represents the revival of the noble values and principle in Arabic and Islamic worlds. We are hoping for more cooperation and coordination with your respected organization. We have added a new section "Management of Humantrian Aids" which is part of social affairs of Arab League.
In the end We would like you to accept from us our respect for your blessed charitable and humantrian efforts.

Mr. Al-Hajji: Relief Team to carry out the Relief 
Plan in Indonesia and Sri Lanka

Mr. Yousef Al-Hajji, the chairman of the Kuwait Joint Relief Committee announced that the committee sent a relief team to Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Lead by relief supervisor Badr Abdullah Al-Shamrookh, and with the contribution of members of Bait Al-Zakat, Social Reform Society and the Society for Reviving Islamic Heritage, the team will be working on the second phase of the Relief programme, which consists of construction of buildings, settlement and development projects for the victims, and renovation of some schools, mosques, and hospitals.

Currently, the committee’s priority is building settlements, said Al-Hajji, and a plan to build Kuwaiti villages – each one containing 100 houses, with all of the basic services such as a school, hospital, and a mosque – was devised and approved of. He also stated that the Relief Team will be working to make contracts with the construction companies, under the disposition of the Kuwaiti embassies in Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

The chairman of the Kuwait JointRelief Committee urged charitable organizations and individuals who would like to participate in these projects to make arrangements with the committee’s General Secretariat. The cost of one house is about three thousand Kuwaiti Dinars, so this will make it possible for the committee to increase the number of villages built.

Al-Hajji ensured that these efforts aim to reduce the hardships on the Indonesian and Sri Lankan people who are suffering from the aftermath of the tsunami flood and providing shelter for these people. The Relief Team also gives aid to the needy by providing them with fishing boats, fishing nets, motor cycles for transport, and sewing machines.

Al-Hajji said that the Team had a meeting with the Sri Lankan president, with the presence of the Kuwaiti ambassador in Sri Lanka, who agreed to dedicate a piece of land in the devastated areas to build the villages on.

Mr. Al-Hajji: Our plans aim at implementing health , productive, educational and religious projects in Indonesia and Sri Lanka

Kuwait Joint Relief Committee and the Kuwaiti Embassies in Indonesia and Sri Lanka decided to rebuild some of the houses destroyed by earthquakes and Tsunami waves that hit those countries.

The Committee also decided to share in productive, health and education projects which were planned after its delegation visited the devastated region.

The committee chairman Yousef Al-Hajji said that the suggested plans to rebuild some schools , hospitals and mosques has been discussed in detail.

Al-Hajji declared that 80,000 KD has been assigned as a primary step to reconstruct 100 houses. He also added that the committee agreed to make some other projects as fishing boats and nets and motorcycles to sell food and sewing machines. Al-Hajji announced that this will be carried out with the cooperation with the Kuwaiti embassy in Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

IICO Delegation visited Sudan and inspected its Projects there
 

The general manager of Al-Najah Schools, Hamed Mulla Hussein, Yousef Abdul Rahman, the head of media department in IICO, and the engineer Hesham Abu Al Saood visited Sudan.

The delegation visited Al-Zaweyya School and interviewed the candidates for the school principle. They also published pronouncement in the newspapers for job opportunities for teachers to work in the school.

The delegation has finished a documentary film about IICO projects in the capital, Al-Khartoum. They also made interviews with public for the film "Charity Train" they intend to produce.

Besides, they arranged a meeting with the head of IICO in Sudan to discuss the accomplished projects, investments, and new budget.

Then the delegation visited Al-Qabas school and met its principles, Heider Abdullah Al-Qady the general principle, and Mr. Seddeiq Abdullah Mohamed Ali , the principle of primary education.

Mr. Hamed Mulla Hussein Al Tarkeit gave a lecture about private education in Kuwait, with some comments of Mr. Yousef Abdul Rahman about the role of the teachers and development of human resources in the education field.

The delegation also met the organization of the Islamic Institute for development construction with its head Mr. Ashwak Kolneyaq Akwafeq (The general chef) & they are a group of priests who became Muslims .

They also visited the institution of Human disasters & met its general manager Dr. Awad khalifa Mousa and others Sudanese working in the charitable fields.

"Future Stars" New Project of IICO Youth Training Center

IICO Youth Training Center formed a new group for young youth: "Future Stars". The vice president of the center, Abdul Aziz Al-Awady, announced the starting of the registration and application for the admission test.

He announced that the goal of the "Future Stars" group is to prepare an ambitious generation of youth who is highly trained for leadership; and at the same time has a moderate religious views and is capable of defending its traditions and principles and developing its talents and skills.

Al-Awady also clarified that this program will last for two years at which youth will be trained through various, and different training programs, courses, lectures, and team work, in addition to some journeys abroad.

He added that the requirements for acceptance in the "Future Stars" Group is to be from 10 to 13 years old and the school grade should be 80% or more, and candidate must pass the evaluation course at the interview.

Osool Corporation Donated a Clinic for IICO
Health Care Hospital for Cancer Patient

The company Osool has contributed to the health care hospital which the Islamic International Charitable Organization is building with cooperation of the Kuwait Society for Fighting Smoking and Cancer in the Sabah Health Area.

The Kuwaiti state has contributed the land for the project, and some of the charitable and good people donated for its construction. Osoul’s contribution involved the donation of a clinic for general examination in the hospital including its required equipments, instruments, for serving the patients.

Waael Al Qattamy, the chef executive for Osoul Corporation ,clarified during his meeting with chairman of the International Islamic Charitable Organization , Jasem Al-Hajjy, and the general supervisor Mohamed Nasser Al Hamdaan, that this contribution which the management council has approved affirms its belief of   the importance of role social contributions.

Al-Hajjy confirmed that the project was reflect the cooperation between IICO and the Kuwaiti Society for fighting Smoking and Cancer. The project is hopped to offer special care to the patients who need to spend a long time for recovery and follow up. It is well known that the psychological effect plays an important role in the patients’ quick recovery .

Mohammed Nasser Al Hamdan appreciated Osoul’s contribution to this project and confirmed that its common for our national organizations to contribute in such private projects which serves our nation. A representative from Osoul, Saleh Al Owaysheer, the manager of the human resources and Samy Al-Odwany, the head of the general affairs department were participating in the meeting in addition to the project organizer, Saleh Al Jasem.

Al-Hajji urges Donors to support the Hospital
for Cancer Patients in Kuwait

 

International Islamic Charitable Organization together with Kuwaiti society for fighting cancer and smocking are intensifying their efforts for collecting donations for the Hospital for Cancer Patients which is regarded as a national project. The hospital is established in the Sabah medical area and it will be operated by the ministry of health. It would provide the palliative care for cancer patients as well as other patients who are suffering from chronic diseases.  

 

Mr. Al-Hajji, the chairman of IICO, stated that the Medical aid is an essential element in the IICO's plans whether in Kuwait or outside it. He mentioned that the project is progressing according to the plans but it still needs more contributions.  He urged the generous donors to share in this project to help reduce the suffering of many patients.

IICO signed a contract with the "House of Consultations"
for the development of its Human Resources

 

International Islamic Charitable Organization signed a contract with Dr. Abdul Razaq al-Shaijy the head of "House of Consultation for Islamic Counseling". This agreement aims at improving the skills of workers in philanthropic field whether they are employees or volunteers and empower them to develop their full potentials in this field.

 

The purpose of the project is to put standards for the workers in the philanthropic field to
aid its progress and development.

 

Al-Hajji, the chairman of IICO, said that  the "House of Consultations" will prepare scientific and training programs for philanthropic fellowship degree. IICO will with Arabic non-governmental organizations to issue certificates of the fellowship.

 

It is worth mentioning that IICO is preparing a group of training programs for the philanthropic sector.

IICO's Office in Jordan Financed 346 Charitable Projects

 

The head of IICO office in Jordan, Khalil Muhammed Hamad,  announced that under the slogan "Together ... the needy will not have to ask again" IICO office in Jordan financed  in the last 6 years, 346 productive, education and vocational training projects, aiming at empowering the needy communities and help its development.

 

He added that the office also helped needy families to acquire practical skills that improve their conditions. Needy families received non-interest loans from 700 to 1000 dollar in average to help them start a productive project. These projects aim at raising the standards of living of the needy families through giving them the opportunity to start a self-employment projects.

 

He added that the office financed the program of a training during these period and rehabilitation of 886 trainees. The training programs included workshops in computer, mechanics, carpentry, electrical work, welding, smith crafts, sewing, hand crafts, ...etc. These programs helped many women to increase the income of the family.


The office also established a Computer Center for training in computer skills.

During the month of Ramadan about 2000 food parcels were distributed on 110 socities and centers for orphans.

 

He added that the office offered medical equipment to many health centers. And also contributed in in 17 mosques and centers for Quranic studies.

 

The office also supported 200 students, sponsored many orphans and poor families, and sick people. The office financed agricultural and arrogation projects, water wills. The office participates in the project of the collective marriage in July 2004.

2.8 million dollars the total IICO aids in Kuwait and abroad
within two months

63 countries benefited from IICO aids

  

Muhammed Hilwah the Financial Consultant of IICO announced that the total IICO aids in Kuwait and abroad within two months of Shaa'ban and Ramadan reached 2.8 million dollars. IICO spent most of these money on charitable projects where 63 countries benefited from IICO aids, Kuwait had the greatest share of it. 

 

The cost of charitable projects inside Kuwait was $ 1,300,000.

The number of orphans benefited were 1340.
The cost of Hospital for Cancer Patients was $ 655,000.

The cost of "offering food" project was $107,000

The cost of "Let them cool down" project was $ 23,000

 

In addition to this $91,000 was spent on social assistances; $71,000  breaking the fast project.

 

63 countries benefited from IICO charities, including: Afghanistan, India, Ethiopia, Iraq, Naijr, Nigeria, Ocarina, and Uganda.

    Chairman of Palestine Committee offered 170, 000 meal during Ramadan for breaking the fast in Palestine

Al-Sharaf urges the honorable donors to support the Palestinian Cause

 

 

In an interview with Al-Alamyiah magazine the vise president of the Palestine Committe, Khalid al-Sharaf stressed that the Palestine Charitable Committee is fulfilling its philanthropic in Palestine role through offering many charitable and relief projects particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

 

During Ramadan 30,000 meal was offered in Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa in addition to 40,000 meals in other Masjids.

 

The committee also supplied needy families with food parcels during the holy month which included basic food such as rice, flour, cooking oil, tomato sauce, milk powder, beans, tea, chicken.

 

The committee distributed Zakatul-Fitr on the poor families and the needy.

 

Furthermore, the committee sponsored 150 families (50k.d/month) and 200 orphans (15 k.d/month).

 Also some donors participated in the committee Waqf projects.

 

Mr. Sharaf stressed the importance of  maintaining the financial aids to the Palestinians. He added that although these aids helped remove some of the suffering of the Palestinians, we must remember that the Palestinian people are facing an increasing hardship in their daily life. They are suffering from a severe shortage in all their primary and essential needs.
 

He urged the donors to realize how urgent the situation is and do their best to support the Palestinian people in their tragedy.

 

IICO is encouraging all Moslems to support its projects to provide urgent humanitarian help to ease the suffering of the Palestinians. 

Money is needed to relief the families that lost their supporters, the orphans, and the needy, supplying hospitals with medical equipments and medicines, providing employment opportunities for the poor, in addition to repairing of houses and buildings.
